MANIC STREET PREACHERS (UK) to QSTOCK

The latest addition to the Qstock 2008 program is Manic Street Preachers, the legendary Welsh trio whose latest album, Send Away The Tigers was released in May 2007. Known for their melodic, guitar-driven rock, Manic Street Preachers is one of the best known British bands internationally. Among their greatest hits are A Design For Life, Everything Will Go and If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next. Qstock is extremely proud to add this brilliant line-up to this year’s program.

Area changes to Qstock 2008!

The festival area for Qstock 2008 will undergo significant changes, as the Raatinsaari island will be included in the festival area as a whole. The expansion of the festival area introduces significant improvements to the overall practicality and security of the festival area. More details and photos of the new festival area will be added to this website soon, so stay tuned!

Qstock 2008 new website and the first artists announced!

Welcome to the new Qstock 2008 website! As you will see, there is a lot of information that is still missing from these pages, but don't worry: the website is being updated constantly. We have also released the first list of artists confirmed for the summer 2008. Check our "Bands" section for a closer look at the artists at this year's Qstock.

Within Temptation (NED) to Qstock 2008 in Oulu!

Known for their symphonic and dark-toned metal, the Dutch Within Temptation is the first foreign line up confirmed for this summer's Qstock. After releasing The Heart of Everything - another successful album by the band - Within Temptation has been busy touring Europe, Japan and North America, taking on the stages of South America in April.

Another foreign band secured for this year's festival programme is Dark Tranquillity, a melodic death metal line-up from Sweden. Among the first top-level Finnish bands who have confirmed their gigs at Qstock 2008 are Scandinavian Music Group, 22 Pistepirkko, Mokoma, Kotiteollisuus, YUP, Stam1na, PMMP, Ismo Alanko Teholla and Sturm Und Drang.

As before, the programme at Happiteltta (The O2 Tent), arranged as a way of cooperation between Qstock and cultural society Trank, will be heavily concentrated on electronica or electronic music. Among the performers in Happiteltta are Rex The Dog (UK), The Field (SWE), Eero Johannes, Komytea, 120Days (NOR), Artificial Latvamäki, Äänijännite and Teatteri Airopik.

There will be significant changes to the area arrangements in Qstock 2008. The one and only goal for these new arrangements is to improve the enjoyment of the festival fans and the quality of services at the festival. A more detailed description of the area changes will be released later on in the spring.

The sixth annual Qstock will take place in Oulu, Finland, on July 25 - 26, 2008. Ticket sales to the festival will begin at the end of May/early June.
